When you have the right pillow, you’re able to at least have the right support, stability, and comfort you need to have a full night’s sleep. Why You Should Choose the Right Pillow for Your Sleep Needs

Choosing the right pillow for your sleep needs is vital to a good night’s sleep. Without the right pillow, you run the risk of not achieving REM (rapid eye movement) sleep and not healing throughout the night with all of the benefits sleep has to offer. Below, we’ll be exploring the various aspects of a good pillow: comfort, support, & stability

Comfort

We all envision the perfect pillow. One which has the right level of comfort and one we look forward to resting our head on each and every night we go to bed. The definition of “comfort” varies from person to person, so your definition may be different depending on the individual preferences you’ve acquired over the years. 

Support

Support is crucial for all of us, whether we prefer a softer pillow, or a firmer pillow; we still need support for our head and neck. Support in a pillow can be determined by the pillow’s fill, it’s size, it’s age, etc… If you’re noticing your pillow doesn’t have the same support it used to, it’s most likely time to upgrade to a new pillow. How Long Does a Pinched Nerve Last?

This is a question we receive often here at Neurosurgery & Spine Consultants from prospective patients. The answer to the question itself truly depends on the number of different circumstances surrounding your body, your health, and your ability to heal; both internally and from possible surgery. Read on to learn more about the individual process when it comes to determine  how long a pinched nerve lasts.

The Answer to This Question is: “It Varies”

As stated above, it really does vary from individual to individual. The causes behind your pinched nerve can play a large factor into your recovery time. Pair that with dietary habits, lifestyle, and numerous other factors; and you’ll have a better projection to determine how much longer you may be experiencing this pinched nerve issue.

Most Pinched Nerves Last Between a Few Days to a Few Months

In most situations, a pinched nerve may last anywhere from a few days to a few months in severe scenarios. The best thing you can do to possibly reduce the time you’re experiencing the pinched nerve issue is to seek the appropriate medical care as soon as possible. Why Do Some Pinched Nerves Last Longer Than Others?

Can Prolonged Sitting Cause Sciatica?

Sciatica is a condition which can seemingly pop up out of nowhere, yet here are often developing stages of the condition itself you may not notice until it becomes an actual painful condition, In this post, we’ll be discussing the various aspects of sciatica and how you can best prevent it from occurring if you haven’t experienced it yet, and also reducing the pain and discomfort if you’re currently going through chronic sciatica pain.

The Short Answer is…Yes

Yes, prolonged sitting can cause sciatica to develop, or even worsen if you’ve had a mild case in the past. Thai is primarily due to the pressure exerted on the sciatic nerve over time which comes with prolonged periods of sitting. 

Why Does Prolonged Sitting Make Sciatica Worse?

Prolonged sitting makes sciatica worse due to the fact a good portion of your body eight is now being exerted on your sciatic nerves. These muscles consist of the gluteus muscles which make their way down the leg. Ensuring you move around during the flight at least once per hour can help tremendously when it comes to reducing aches, pains, and stiffness.
