Your First Visit at Neurosurgery & Spine Consultants in San Antonio, Texas
Scheduling and preparing for your first appointment.
First, if you haven’t already, schedule an appointment by calling 210-255-8935 or filling out the form on this page. We will try to get you in the next day, if possible.
Then, please print and complete your new patient paperwork prior to your arrival. This will expedite the appointment process and help us stay on schedule — we try to limit wait times to a few minutes.
What to expect at your first appointment.
During your initial visit, you will be seen by our staff, who will ask about your medical history and your symptoms. One of our physicians will then perform a focused neurological examination. After reviewing your medical history and diagnostic tests, you will be presented with a number of treatment options. We will inform you of the risks and benefits of each option and will assist you in making the final decision concerning which option is best for you.
If you have them, please bring your radiographic images (MRI, CT scan, plain X-ray films) to your first appointment (although they are not necessary to schedule an appointment). Our physicians will personally review each film with you and your family during consultation. If you have any questions regarding your diagnosis or treatment, or office policy and procedure, please call our office. Your call will be returned during our normal business hours. Also, we will provide you an access pin that will allow you to create an account on our online Patient Portal, which is the most efficient way of interacting with your health information.
24-Hour Cancellation & No-Show Policy
Your appointment time is reserved especially for you. If you must cancel your appointment, please call our office at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. This allows Neurosurgery & Spine Consultants to offer that time to another patient. If a patient does not cancel an appointment 24 hours in advance or fails to show up for their appointment, there will be a $35.00 fee charged to the patient account.
Financial Responsibility
Please familiarize yourself with your insurance plan, as medical reimbursement is ultimately your responsibility. Our office can help you obtain the requirements to see our physicians and secure reimbursement. Proof of insurance and photo ID are required at the first visit. Co-payments and deductibles are due at the time of your visit. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card (Visa, Master Card).
Refilling Prescriptions.
NOTE: Neurosurgery & Spine Consultants does not fill narcotic pain prescriptions besides those necessary for temporary, post-operative pain relief.
All prescriptions will be refilled during normal business hours. We do not refill prescriptions after hours or on weekends. If you are out of refills and our physicians need to see you before prescribing more medication, our office will schedule an appointment for the first available date.
Emergencies
If you are experiencing a true medical emergency, please call 911 or go directly to the nearest hospital. If you need to speak to a physician after hours, and it does not pertain to rescheduling a visit or refilling a prescription, please call our office at 210-255-8935 and you will be directed to the physician on call.
