Carolina Fernandez, PA-C, is a dedicated and highly trained Physician Assistant specializing in comprehensive patient care across a wide range of medical and surgical settings. She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Carolina brings a strong clinical foundation to Neurosurgery & Spine Consultants, with hands-on experience in high-acuity environments including emergency medicine, orthopedic surgery, and family medicine. During her clinical training, she performed detailed patient histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments while working alongside physicians in a Level I Trauma Center and busy outpatient clinics. She has participated in a variety of procedures, including suturing, wound care, fracture management, joint reductions, and assisting in surgical settings.
Her background also includes extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient care, where she contributed to patient management plans, coordinated care across multidisciplinary teams, and supported patients through both acute and chronic conditions. Carolina has a particular interest in spine and neurosurgical care, with exposure to neuro/spine surgery, ICU settings, and orthopedic trauma, allowing her to provide thoughtful, well-rounded care to her patients.
Prior to becoming a Physician Assistant, Carolina worked as a Patient Care Technician with Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio, where she developed a deep understanding of patient-centered care while supporting pre-operative and emergency department patients. Her early clinical experience also includes volunteer work with underserved communities, reinforcing her commitment to improving access to quality healthcare.
Carolina is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
